Homeschool Students and Parents Can Learn Almost Anything For Free At Khan Academy

If you are a homeschooler then you should be using one the best resources for video learning out there. It's Khan Academy and they claim that you can learn almost anything for free. That is the best deal that I have seen so far for homeschoolers.

The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. They are a not-for-profit group with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere. All of their site's resources are available to anyone including homeschoolers just like you.

What can you learn you ask?  Well, hmmm... Let's see... Algebra, Geometry, Science, Biology, Chemistry, American Civics, Art History, Banking and Money, Calculus, Astronomy and much much more.

To this point Khan Academy is the best free resource I have seen in my 11+ year homeschool journey.

National Home Education Research Institute or NHERI - Brian D. Ray Ph.D.

If you are a homeschooler and have not heard of NHERI then you are missing out on some great resources. Dr. Brian D. Ray is president and founder of the National Home Education Research Institute (Salem, Oregon, U.S.A.), a nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to serving all educators and the public by conducting research on home-based education, maintaining a network of researchers, and educating the worldwide public about home- and family-based education. Dr. Ray has conducted numerous studies on home schooling, founded and serves as editor of the academic, refereed journal Home School Researcher, speaks widely to the media, professional meetings, and home-school conferences, and provides expert testimony before many courts and legislatures.

Practical Math Help for Homeschoolers

Hey homeschoolers, are you one of those families that struggle with math.  Well look no further.  Below I have compiled a few practical sites that have helped us in our homeschool and hopefully can help you get over those math blues.

Free Solutions: 

Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) - A not for profit site that not only shows you how to solve your math problems but other problems as well.

Math The Smart Way (www.maththesmartway.com) - Check out some awesome Free step by step videos on the most common math problems that you will face in your homeschooling life.

Youtube (www.youtube.com) - Go to youtube and just type in the math topic that you want to learn about and bada bing you get a video that gives you the knowledge. Easy as pie.

Paid Solutions:

Math U See (www.mathusee.com) - Some cost effective videos on how to learn math.

MathWay (www.mathway.com) - Free to find answers to math problems but they charge a yearly fee of $65 if you want the actual steps to solve the problems.

Singapore Math (www.singaporemath.com) - Many homeschoolers claim that this is an awesome math program.  I must agree with them.
