Interview with Mary Schofield:

Mary and husband Paul began homeschooling in 1986, when their sons were ages five and eight. They joined a local support group which met regularly in a local park, making friendships which have lasted for over 20 years. Their group leader encouraged them to join CHEA and attend a Convention. After attending for the first time in 1987, Paul and Mary returned every year, enjoying a weekend getaway to learn more about homeschooling and to plan for the upcoming school year.

Mary wrote The High School Handbook, a guide to home educating junior and senior high school students, based on years of experience, research, and prayer that began in 1986 when a niece moved in to be homeschooled for eleventh and twelfth grades. Mary speaks at home education conventions throughout the United States, encouraging parents to seek God’s unique plan for their families.
